Broncos GM John Elway pleased with Joe Flacco’s minicamp performance

So far so good for new Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco.

“At 34 years old, that’s young at that position,” Broncos general manager John Elway said of Flacco on Tuesday. “Joe has done it. He’s proven he’s done it, he’s won a Super Bowl, and so he knows what it takes. He’s been to that level.

“Minicamp went well. I thought he did a nice job at minicamp. He showed what he could do out there and what we thought he could do as far as the way he throws the ball. He can make all the throws — still has the strong arm — so Joe was very good in [mini] camp.”

Before the NFL draft, Flacco is the team’s presumed starter for the 2019 season so it’s good news that he’s looked good at camp. Elway also said the team will add a fourth quarterback to the roster this offseason, either through the draft or free agency.

Even if Denver selects a quarterback with the 10th overall pick on Thursday, Flacco will be the favorite to start in Week 1.
