Shaq Barrett signed with the Broncos as a college free agent out of Colorado State following the 2014 NFL draft. After serving as a rotational pass rusher behind players like DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller and Bradley Chubb from 2015-2018, Barrett said last December that he wanted to go somewhere where he could start.
He played four seasons in Denver and got nine starts as an injury fill-in, totaling 14 sacks during his time with the Broncos. Barrett knew he wouldn’t start over Miller or Chubb so he sought greener pastures this spring.
Barrett became a free agent in March and signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers. He went on to win a starting job and recorded three sacks in a 20-14 win over the Panthers on Thursday evening.
