Broncos fall to Chiefs 23-3, secure 3rd-straight losing season

The Denver Broncos (5-9) lost to the Kansas City Chiefs (10-4) 23-3 on a snowy afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 15. The snow and wind seemed to slow down Denver’s offense but had little impact on Kansas City’s own offense.

This marks the third-straight year the Broncos have finished the year with a losing record. The best Denver could finish the season is 7-9.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a big game, throwing for 340 yards and two touchdowns, good for a 115.7 passer rating. Mahomes’ favorite target was tight end Travis Kelce, who finished the day with 11 catches for 142 yards.

The Broncos had no standout performers on offense. Wide receiver Courtland Sutton led the team with 79 receiving yards but he also had what would have been a touchdown pass knocked out of his grasp by a Chiefs defender. Denver’s offense failed to score a single touchdown.

Up next for the Broncos is a home game against the Detriot Lions in Week 16 followed by another home game against the Oakland Raiders. Those contests should be much easier than the tough test Denver faced in KC.
