Broncos ‘don’t anticipate’ trading WR Jerry Jeudy

After weeks of listening to trade offers for their wide receivers, the Denver Broncos announced to media members at the NFL owners’ meetings in March that they don’t plan to trade Jerry Jeudy or Courtland Sutton.

Both general manager George Paton and head coach Sean Payton have said they’re not interested in trading Jeudy or Sutton, but speculation about a potential draft-day trade has continued.

During his pre-draft press conference last week, Paton said the team does not “anticipate” parting ways with Jeudy, who has a May 1 deadline for a fifth-year option in his contract.

“I spoke at the owner’s meetings. We’re high — really high — on Jerry,” Paton said on April 20. “We don’t anticipate doing anything with Jerry. Jerry finished the season strong — the last five games, he had over 500 yards. He was one of the top receivers in the league. We like Jerry, and he’s going to be here.”

The final sentence makes it pretty clear: “[H]e’s going to be here.” Still, until the draft ends and Jeudy is still on the roster, the possibility of a trade will linger. By this time next week, we’ll have a true final answer.
