Broncos DL McTelvin Agim eager to learn under Jurrell Casey

Broncos third-round draft pick McTelvin Agim (6-3, 309 pounds) is an interior defensive lineman who generates pressure on passing downs and will likely spend time at defensive end in Denver’s 3-4 defense.

Sound familiar?

He’s a similar player to Jurrell Casey (6-1, 305 pounds), who the Broncos acquired in a trade with the Titans in March. This offseason, Agim will learn under Casey and Denver’s other defensive linemen.

“Being able to learn from Jurrell Casey [is exciting],” Agim said during a conference call with reporters on April 24. “You have other guys just — all of those guys — all-pro legends, future Hall of Famers. I’m able to sit there and learn under them. It’s going to be a blessing.

“Just being able to learn under all of those, all-pro, future Hall of Famers, I’m just going to try to soak it in and be appreciative of the opportunity.”

Casey is a five-time Pro Bowler but the Broncos don’t have many other All-Star caliber defensive linemen. Agim might have been referring to edge defenders Von Miller and Bradley Chubb, who play as outside linebackers.

Regardless of how Denver’s front seven lines up, Agim’s overall point that he will be learning from some star defenders holds true. The Broncos would be thrilled if he has a similar career to Casey’s during his time in Denver. Casey has totaled 51 sacks in nine seasons.
