Broncos DL Adam Gotsis on OL Dalton Risner: ‘He’s good’

The Broncos selected Kansas State offensive lineman Dalton Risner in the second round of this year’s NFL draft and he’s penciled in to be the team’s starting left guard as a rookie.

Risner seems to be doing well at organized team activities. Judging from the testimony of the team’s defensive linemen, Risner has been doing all the right things.

“He’s good,” defensive lineman Adam Gotsis said after practice on May 23. “I mean, he’s coming in here and working real hard. He’s a good fit for our o-line. You can tell he’s hungry and he’s in his playbook. I haven’t really seen him out there blowing too much stuff out there (assignment-wise), so that’s a good sign for us.

“I think he’s going to be a huge boost to our o-line and I think he’s really going to help out especially with a big run coming back. I’m sure there are veteran guards and other linemen that are helping him out.”

Once Ron Leary returns to full health, Denver’s starting offensive line could be Garett Bolles, Risner, Connor McGovern, Leary and Ja’Wuan James. That sounds a bit improved from their 2018 lineup and much improved from the 2017 squad. Risner will be a key member of the 2019 lineup.
