Broncos DL Adam Gotsis loves Vic Fangio’s defense

Broncos coach Vic Fangio is bringing a new defense to Denver and it’s safe to say the players have bought in.

“I’m loving it,” defensive lineman Adam Gotsis said of the defense after practice on May 23. “We’re still basing out of the 3-4, pretty similar stuff to kind of last year, kind of the same techniques.

“Then we’re going to be playing a lot of subs, let us get a little more pass rush, a little more pass rush up inside, I think. I think it’s a good fit for a lot of us on the d-line.”

In the secondary, Fangio will have several versatile defensive backs, which will allow him to move players around. He’ll also have versatile defensive linemen, allowing for even more rotation on defense.

“I think we’re so versatile,” Gotsis said. “You’ve got guys that can play all three positions, know both ends, and basically everyone in the room can play all of those positions. I’m feeling really comfortable.”

And in addition to having a defensive guru as their new head coach, the Broncos are also bringing back defensive line coach Bill Kollar. The combination of Fangio and Kollar should result in excellent performances from the team’s defensive linemen in 2019.

“You know he’s one of the best d-line coaches in the league,” Gotsis said of Kollar. “He’s on top of us, making sure we get it all down. Yeah, just loving it. [I’m] just loving the fit.”
