Broncos’ defense ranked as 2nd-best in the NFL

Steven Ruiz of For The Win ranked all 32 defenses in the NFL earlier this week and the Denver Broncos came in ranked No. 2.

Here is Ruiz’ commentary with Denver’s ranking:

Vic Fangio left one talented defense for another. Now, the Broncos defense isn’t nearly as deep as the one Fangio left behind in Chicago, but he has more than enough to work with to build another top-five unit in Denver. Pass rushers Von Miller and Bradley Chubb are the stars. They should have no trouble getting to the quarterback. The secondary isn’t as talented as it once was but Fangio is a master of coverages and should get the best out of this group led by Chris Harris Jr. and free agent slot corner Bryce Callahan.

In terms of scoring, Chicago had the top defense in the league last year. Denver had the 13th-best defense in 2018.

The Arizona Cardinals’ defense, now coached by Vance Joseph, is ranked No. 32. The New England Patriots’ defense, primarily coached by Bill Belichick, is ranked No. 1. The complete rankings can be viewed here.
