Broncos cut two players to make room for UDFAs

After selecting six players in the 2019 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos officially signed 17 undrafted free agents this week. Those transactions put Denver’s roster at 92 players, so the team had to make two cuts.

To make room for the new rookies, the Broncos waived quarterback Garrett Grayson and wide receiver Chad Hansen. The team’s 90-man offseason roster is now full.

Hansen, 24, spent part of last season on Denver’s practice squad. After signing college free agent wide receivers Trinity Benson, Kelvin McKnight and Romell Guerrier, the Broncos felt that Hansen was expendable.

Grayson, 27, took a gamble this spring by signing with Denver instead of playing in the Alliance of American Football. That gamble seemingly didn’t pay off as the Broncos re-signed Kevin Hogan, drafted Drew Lock and signed college free agent Brett Rypien.

Denver only planned to take four quarterbacks to training camp, leaving Grayson as the odd man out. Now he’s out of a job and he doesn’t have film from the AAF to show teams to try to get a job.

That’s a tough break for the former Colorado State quarterback.
