Broncos cut DL McTelvin Agim

The Denver Broncos have waived defensive lineman McTelvin Agim, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Agim (6-3, 300 pounds) would presumably be a candidate to return on the practice squad if he clears waivers. After an impressive performance in Denver’s preseason finale, though, Agim will likely draw interest on the waiver wire.

It sounds like the Broncos tried to trade Agim before cutting him as Pelissero reported Agim was “the subject of trade talks in recent days.”

Agim was picked by Denver in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft out of Arkansas. He struggled to break into the defensive line’s starting lineup, appearing in 17 games (no starts) over the last two seasons. Agim totaled 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two pass breakups in those appearances.

Agim did stand out in the team’s final preseason game over the weekend with two forced fumbles, two pass breakups and a sack, but that apparently wasn’t enough to make the squad.

Agim not making the 53-man roster presumably increases the chances of sixth-round pick Matt Henningsen making the team as a rookie.
