Broncos cut 3 players to make room for waiver wire additions

The Denver Broncos had just one opening on their 53-man roster Sunday and the team added four players. Consequently, the team had to part ways with three players to make room for the new additions.

Denver waived undrafted rookie linebacker Josh Watson, wide receiver/returner River Cracraft and offensive lineman Jake Rodgers. If they clear waivers, Watson and Rodgers might be candidates for the 10-man practice squad. The Broncos have signed three practice squad players so far.

Cracraft may also be brought back because Denver is expected to place quarterback Drew Lock (thumb), tight end Jake Butt (knee) and running back Theo Riddick (shoulder) on injured reserve. That would open up three more spots on the 53-man roster, making room for Cracraft.

The team claimed quarterback Brandon Allen, wide receiver/returner Diontae Spencer, tight end/fullback Andrew Beck and offensive lineman Corey Levin off waivers Sunday.

The Broncos also bringing back linebacker Corey Nelson, who will provide depth on defense and much-needed help on special teams. The 53-man roster is currently full.
