Broncos continue rising in NFL power rankings

Denver Broncos (5-8) rookie quarterback Drew Lock has given the team a spark.

After Lock led Denver to wins in his first two starts, the team has jumped up three spots in Nate Davis’ NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports. The Broncos are now ranked 20th overall, no longer considered to be among the 10 worst teams in the league.

“Drew Lock completed 81% of his 27 throws in Sunday’s win,” Davis wrote alongside Denver’s ranking. “John Elway only did that once in his career when attempting at least 20 passes.”

The Broncos are considered the second-best team in the AFC West in the rankings, below the Kansas City Chiefs (9-4, No. 5) and above the Oakland Raiders (6-7, No. 22) and Los Angeles Chargers (5-8, No. 23). With two division games remaining, Denver has a shot to finish second in the AFC West this season.

The Baltimore Ravens (11-2) remain ranked No. 1 and the Cincinnati Bengals (1-12) are ranked No. 32. View the complete rankings here.
