Broncos considered 3rd-worst team in NFL power rankings

The Denver Broncos are ranked No. 30 in Nate Davis’ NFL power rankings entering Week 2. That’s down eight spots from their pre-Week 1 ranking of No. 23 last week.

“Looks like this could be another long year with another quarterback not named Peyton Manning taking this proud franchise nowhere,” Davis wrote alongside the Broncos’ ranking.

It’s true that the team looked poor in a Week 1 loss to the Oakland Raiders but the defeat shouldn’t be blamed on quarterback Joe Flacco. He could have made a few better throws but Flacco didn’t have an awful performance.

Flacco went 21-of-31 for 268 yards with one touchdown pass and no interceptions in Week 1, good for a 105.3 passer rating.

Denver is the last-ranked team in the AFC West, behind the Raiders (No. 23), Los Angeles Chargers (No. 6) and Kansas City Chiefs (No. 2).

Only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 31) and Miami Dolphins (No. 32) are ranked lower than Denver. The New England Patriots are ranked No. 1. To view the complete power rankings, click here.
