Broncos coach Vic Fangio will look thinner on the sideline this season

Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay bulked up this offseason, gaining 10 pounds of muscle. His coach, Vic Fangio, slimmed down.

“One of the consequences of being the head coach is I saw myself on the screens and in pictures a whole lot more than usual,” Fangio said during his pre-camp press conference on July 28. “I thought I just looked terrible. I decided early in the offseason I was going to lose some weight.”

Fangio said he started dieting before the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown and lost at least 30 pounds this offseason.

“[That] sounds good, but it also tells you how fat I got,” Fangio said. “It was kind of nice. I don’t want to say easy, but when you live alone like I do and you control the food in the house and you’re not going out to eat, it kind of happened. I’m glad it did. I feel good.”

This year, Fangio will aim to get Denver back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2015 season. He’ll look thinner and healthier when he sees himself in highlights this fall.
