Broncos coach Vic Fangio praises Packers’ two Aarons

Anyone who has paid attention to the NFL in recent years will know who Aaron Rodgers is. He’s the Packers’ superstar quarterback — a two-time league MVP and a one-time Super Bowl MVP.

But what about the “other” Aaron in Green Bay’s offense?

Aaron Jones, a third-year running back out of UTEP, is quite an offensive weapon himself.

“[He’s] really good,” Broncos coach Vic Fangio said of Jones before practice Wednesday. “When I first saw him when he came up with them, I looked out and said, ‘Where’d they get this guy,’ and I think he was a sixth-round pick, and I’m saying, ‘Jeez.’

“He’s powerful. He’s got really good balance. He runs tough. He’s a capable pass receiver out of the backfield. They do everything with him. They got a steal there.”

Jones gained 934 yards from scrimmage last season and scored nine touchdowns. He’s still the “other” Aaron, though.

Rodgers will draw most of the headlines.

“He’s one of the best of all time so there’s not a lot that’s giving him a lot of trouble,” Fangio said of Rodgers. “One of the definitions of a great quarterback is there’s really no one way to play them so you just have to mix it up on them. He’s a great passer, quick release, great arm strength, mobile, scrambler, creator. He’s a great player.”

The Packers will host the Broncos on Sunday (view the TV map here).
