Broncos coach Vic Fangio pleased with rookie minicamp, ready for OTAs

The Denver Broncos wrapped up rookie minicamp Sunday and will begin organized team activities (OTAs) Monday. Both camps are voluntary.

“It was good,” Broncos coach Vic Fangio said of rookie minicamp after practice Sunday. “We got a lot of great work in. We got three practices in there.

“Everybody got a lot of reps, got a lot of meeting time and walkthrough. We accomplished a lot. Those guys are much more prepared now to partake in OTAs. They start tomorrow with the vets.”

The rookies — including quarterback Drew Lock — got plenty of reps during rookie camp but they will take a backseat when the veterans arrive. That’s something the young players will have to adjust to.

“The first few days they won’t get as many reps as the other guys,” Fangio said. “They’re going to be observing. When they get their reps, take full advantage of them. Notice the competition and notice the uptick in talent, and be ready to go.”

The Broncos will practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
