Broncos coach Vic Fangio explains how he has scouts watch film

The Raiders made headlines Friday when coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock sent their scouts home because they wanted to “clear the room” leading up to the NFL draft next week.

Broncos coach Vic Fangio seems to have a good relationship with Denver’s scouts — and he doesn’t try to influence their opinions.

“I like everybody to watch [film] by themselves and form their own opinions — not be influenced by others’ opinions,” Fangio said on April 16. “Especially if I say something in a group setting, that might influence their opinion.

“I don’t want to influence their opinion at that stage. I want their honest opinion, and we’ll all come together at the end and form a Denver Broncos opinion.”

Denver currently has eight selections in the draft, which will begin on Thursday, April 25. The Broncos’ front office will draw plenty of input from their scouts, who will help the team acquire talented new rookies next week.
