Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio said during a Zoom conference call with reporters Tuesday that he hasn’t seen racism in the NFL.

“We’re a league of meritocracy,” Fangio said. “You earn what you get, you get what you earn. I don’t see racism at all in the NFL. I don’t see discrimination in the NFL. We live in a great atmosphere.

“Like I alluded to earlier, we’re lucky. We all live together joined as one for one common goal, and we all intermingle and mix tremendously. If society reflected an NFL team, we’d all be great.”

Earlier in the call, Fangio noted how diverse the Broncos are.

“Our locker room and our teams have no boundaries,” Fangio said. “We have players, coaches, people that work for the team from all different ethnicities, from all different walks of life, from all different backgrounds, nationalities, religious beliefs, and over the years all of those have been blended in together seamlessly most of the time. I think sports is a great forum for that and luckily it just proves how people can get along.”

Fangio also said the officer involved in George Floyd’s death should be “punished to the fullest extent of the law for the crimes” he committed.
