Broncos coach Vic Fangio advises fans to not read into first depth chart

The Broncos released their first depth chart of 2019 on Monday but coach Vic Fangio advised fans to not read into the current hierarchy.

“I’m going to be honest with you, I wouldn’t read [into] it at all,” Fangio said after practice Monday. “They come in to me and said ask me to put this depth chart together. I gave it to the coaches said just put it there.

“Anything — you guys [media members] know who’s been working with the ones — anything after that is a free for all, and if you put any stock into it you’re mistaken.”

Fangio went as far as to say fans shouldn’t read unto the depth chart until the 53-man roster is announced. Until then, the depth chart is more of a required list than a sign of how position battles are sorting out.

Denver doesn’t have to trim its roster from 90 players to 53 until Aug. 31. So the depth chart won’t mean much over the next month.
