The focus may be on ex-Brisbane forward David Fifita when Gold Coast take on their Queensland NRL rivals this Friday but there's also plenty on the line for Titans fullback AJ Brimson.
The 22-year-old was a boyhood Broncos fan but never got a look in at Red Hill, despite older brother Will spending time in Brisbane's youth program.
Brisbane would probably take a gamble on Brimson these days given the speedster is a crucial element of Justin Holbrook's Titans' revival and also a State of Origin player having debuted for Queensland in 2020.
But it seems that ship has sailed.
"I used to like the Broncos, yes," Brimson admitted.
"I was born in Brisbane and, yeah, I was a Broncos/Queensland fan.
"I've always loved these battles.
"Obviously I'm a diehard, through-and-through Titan now.
"I respect the Broncos as a club obviously and always look forward to these little local derbies."
Both teams suffered defeats in round one, adding an extra element of spice to a rivalry that has stepped up with the Titans claiming top dog status over big brother last year while the Broncos slumped to the first wooden spoon in their history.
Throw in Fifita facing his old team for the first time since his big-money move to the Titans and Friday looms as one of the biggest south-east Queensland derbies in recent times.
"We want to be a part of making the community of Gold Coast proud. We're definitely going to be putting on a good performance for the fans," Brimson said.
"You can't not get up for this game and I think we'll show that Friday night."
