Broncos claim left tackle Darrin Paulo off waivers

The Denver Broncos were awarded rookie offensive tackle Darrin Paulo off the waiver wire, according to The MMQB’s Albert Breer.

Paulo (6-5, 315 pounds) is a 23-year-old rookie who played college football at Utah. Paulo signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in April.

Paulo had been practicing with the Saints’ third-string offense before being waived on Saturday, according to John Sigler of Saints Wire.

Paulo was a four-year starter at Utah, beginning his career at right tackle before transitioning to the left side. He earned Pac-12 All-Conference first-team honors as a senior in 2019 and was invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl. Paulo started in 40 of the 41 games he played in as a lineman.

Denver will have to make a corresponding roster move to make room for Paulo on the 80-man offseason roster. The Broncos also agreed to terms with linebacker Mark Barron on Sunday.

Denver now has nine offensive tackles on the roster: Paulo, Garett Bolles, Demar Dotson, Elijah Wilkinson, Calvin Anderson, Quinn Bailey, Tyler Jones, Jake Rodgers and Hunter Watts.
