Broncos CB Chris Harris on Gardner Minshew: ‘He looks solid’

After Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles went down with an injury he Week 1, he was replaced by sixth-round draft pick Gardner Minshew. The Washington State product has looked great through two and a half games, completing 73.9 percent of his passes for 692 yards with five touchdowns and just one interception.

Broncos cornerback Chris Harris knows that Minshew has to be taken seriously when Denver hosts Jacksonville in Week 4.

“He looks solid,” Harris said Tuesday. “He’s definitely making a lot of plays for a rookie sixth-round pick, so we definitely have to be ready to play. He showed on Thursday night if you’re not ready he can beat you. They beat a quality team with the Titans last week, so we have to be ready to go.”

The Jaguars defeated Tennessee 20-7 on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 3. Minshew has played better than most expected he would and the rookie QB was largely responsible for Jacksonville’s win last week.

“He can make all the throws,” Harris said. “He has great touch on the ball. I would say one little negative is probably his arm strength is just probably average, but everything else — he can make all the throws, great touch on the ball and on the deep ball, and his receivers, they’re getting open for him.”

Sunday’s game will air on CBS at 2:25 p.m. MT (view the TV map here).
