A couple of the bigger legs in the NFL have a chance to be the toast of their cities if they can set the mark for longest field goal in league history.
Bud Light is open to buying a beer for everyone of age (21-plus) if Denver Broncos kicker Brandon McManus can set the mark.
It would mean the veteran would likely have to take advantage of the Mile High air — or the road — to kick a 65-year field goal.
I have a big leg, and I’ve always wanted to have my name etched in history,” said McManus, whose long FG is 57 yards in 2015. “I know I can make that, my teammates know I can make that. In training camp, with live rushes, I’ve made it from 73 yards.”
Not to be left out of the discussion, the Lions’ Matt Prater, who was the Broncos’ kicker before McManus, wants to know what the folks at Bud Light would do for the Motor City if he can break his current mark of 64.
Bud Light came up with a great compromise, not asking either kicker to use their leg as it has never been done before in an NFL game.
Bud Light decided neither kicker has to break Prater’s record. Instead, whoever kicks the longest field goal out of the two will win free beer for his entire city.
