Broncos are 6th-worst team in latest NFL power rankings

The Denver Broncos are ranked 27th in Nate Davis’ start of training camp NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports. Davis considers the Broncos the sixth-worst team in the league, at least at the moment.

“When you change out coaching staff and starting quarterback, things typically don’t go well initially,” Davis wrote alongside Denver’s ranking.

It’s a fair point that teams sometimes struggle with new head coaches and new quarterbacks, but it may be a bit harsh to rank the Broncos so low. New coach Vic Fangio should have Denver’s defense back in top form and new QB Joe Flacco has experience guiding defensive-minded teams to the playoffs.

The Broncos are ranked last among AFC West teams, behind the Oakland Raiders (No. 24), Kansas City Chiefs (No. 4) and Los Angeles Chargers (No. 2). The New England Patriots are ranked No. 1 and the Miami Dolphins are ranked No. 32.
