After making a few splashes in the first wave of free agency, the Denver Broncos appear to be done making big moves for now.
Denver might make a few more bargain signings this offseason but the team is “expected to pause” on the free agency front, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. That means attention will now turn toward the NFL draft.
In free agency, the Broncos landed guard/center Graham Glasgow (4-year deal), running back Melvin Gordon (2-year deal), tight end Nick Vannett (2-year deal), backup quarterback Jeff Driskel (2-year deal) and cornerback De’Vante Bausby (1-year deal).
Denver also acquired cornerback A.J. Bouye (traded 4th-round pick to Texans) and defensive lineman Jurrell Casey (traded 7th-round pick to Titans). And, of course, it shouldn’t be overlooked that the Broncos are also bringing back safety Justin Simmons (franchise tag), offensive lineman Elijah Wilkinson (2nd-round tender) and nose tackle Mike Purcell (2nd-round tender).
Denver might be done making splashes in free agency but that doesn’t necessarily mean the team won’t make any more big moves this offseason. With 10 draft picks to work with, Broncos general manager John Elway might make a few trades during the weekend of the draft.
