Broncos announce two roster moves

The Denver Broncos have promoted offensive lineman Jake Rodgers from the practice squad, the team announced Saturday. To make room for Rodgers on the 53-man roster, the Broncos waived offensive lineman Corey Levin.

Rodgers (6-6, 320 pounds) entered the league as a seventh-round pick out of Eastern Washington University with the Atlanta Falcons in 2015. He went on to serve brief stints with the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens before signing with Denver on April 22.

Elijah Wilkinson began the year as Denver’s backup swing tackle/guard but he was promoted to being a starter after right tackle Ja’Wuan James went down with a knee injury. Rodgers was promoted from the 10-man practice squad to serve as the new backup offensive tackle.

Levin was a backup center/guard. Austin Schlottmann will serve as the new backup center/guard behind Connor McGovern, Ron Leary and Dalton Risner. If Levin clears waivers, he could be signed to the practice squad next week. The Broncos now have one open practice squad spot.
