Broncos allow their scouts to view team’s big board

The Oakland Raiders sent their scouts home last weekend because the team’s front office was afraid scouts might leak the team’s draft plans to media members. The Denver Broncos seem to be more trusting of their scouts.

Broncos general manager John Elway said during his pre-draft press conference Tuesday that the team’s scouts are allowed to view the team’s “Big Board,” their ranking of the prospects in this year’s NFL draft.

“I think that the people who work on the board deserve to be able to look at the board,” Elway explained. “Yeah, our scouts do see the board and I think that they understand when they talk to different people the impact that it could have on us. I think they do a nice job.

“Now, we don’t go through our discussion of what our philosophy’s going to be going into the first and second day, and eventually we’ll do that later in this week, but we’ve not done that yet. That’ll be a closed session there.”

Denver currently owns eight draft selections, including the 10th overall pick in the first round. The draft will begin Thursday.
