The Denver Broncos are encouraging fans to help them celebrate the 100 best players in the team’s history by casting ballots at denverbroncos.com/broncos100. Voting is open now through the end of May.
The “Top 100” team, voted on by fans, alumni, team historian Jim Saccomano and senior digital reporter Andrew Mason, will be announced in mid-June. Players in the team’s Ring of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame will automatically be part of the Top 100 team.
Select members of the team will be honored on “Fantennial Weekend” in October. That event will culminate with owner Pat Bowlen and former cornerback Champ Bailey being honored at halftime against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Oct. 13. Bowlen and Bailey will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August.
In 2009, the Broncos celebrated their 50th season by having fans vote on a “50th Anniversary Team.” This year’s “Top 100” team will likely include many of the same players, with quarterback Peyton Manning, outside linebacker Von Miller and more modern era players added to the list.
