Broncos add offensive lineman Corey Levin to practice squad

The Broncos had to do some shuffling on the offensive line after right tackle Ja’Wuan James went down with a knee injury in Week 1.

Denver moved backup offensive tackle/guard Elijah Wilkinson to right tackle, leaving no backup offensive tackle on the 53-man roster. So the team promoted tackle Jake Rodgers from the practice squad to the active roster.

To make room for Rodgers on the 53-man roster, the Broncos waived backup center/guard Corey Levin. Denver didn’t want to lose Levin but the team couldn’t afford to not have a backup tackle on the roster.

Levin has cleared waivers and the Broncos signed him to the 10-man practice squad Tuesday, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. Denver essentially had Rodgers and Levin swap spots on the active roster and practice squad — the team just had to wait for Levin to clear waivers before re-signing him.

Levin, 25, started one game with the Titans last season.
