A woman has been rushed to hospital after she was knifed while trying to save a man from being stabbed in an attack in south east London.

Police and the London Ambulance Service rushed to Baring Road, in Bromley, at about 4.40pm, to reports of a stabbing.

Once there, officers said they found a woman suffering from stab injuries after she tried to “intervene in the assault”.

The man who was attacked fled the scene and has not been traced, police added.

A spokeswoman from the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers attended and found a woman suffering from stab injuries.

“She informed officers that she was injured as she attempted to intervene in the assault. She was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Enquiries continue to trace the victim of the original assault. Officers remain in the area.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
