Brokenhearted zookeeper let snake fatally bite him on live stream after wife left him

A heartbroken Russian YouTuber captured his own death in a live stream after he intentionally allowed his pet black mamba to bite his hand.

Arslan Valeev, 31, pleaded with viewers for them to call his ex-wife after their marriage had recently broken up.

He and his ex-wife Ekaterina 'Katya' Pyatyzhkina had run a YouTube channel together about snakes and cats called BobCatTV.

In distressing scenes streamed live at the time in 2017, the former zoo employee can be seen visibly breathing quicker and his eyes beginning to roll before his limbs seemed to go numb.

The actual moment he was bitten was not seen on camera but he could be heard saying "ouch" as it happened.

Arslan reappeared on screen and then showed his bitten finger covered in blood, saying: "If I die, then I die.

At the end of the video he stood up and stumbled away into what looked like his bathroom.

He read out Katya's mobile number and asked any of the channel's thousands of followers watching to contact her saying it would make him "happy" if she had time to visit him.

He added: "I just will stay with you for some time.

"Just in case - on my mobile there is a message for Katya."

At least one viewer called an ambulance but after being taken to hospital Arslan died.

The day before his death he told his channel that he would be broadcasting a special stream with one of his "most beloved snakes", called Mamba.

Friends, who described Arslan as a 'snake expert', reported that he had accused Katya of cheating on him, while other reports claimed he had domestically abused her and left her concussed.

The week before the gruesome death, he had publicly said sorry over his behaviour.

But by then his wife had already obtained a divorce and was seeing someone else.

In his apology post, Arslan said: "I see that everything has passed for you, a new life began with someone you have long been close to.

"There were no betrayals, we had no sex since July, we parted even earlier.

"They started to date at the end of July and I believe Katya about this."

He added: "I am sincerely happy about it, but too weak not to react with stupidities.

"In any case, my misdemeanors [sic] have only come back to me, while your new life allows you to treat my words as ... like noise, probably.

"Take this with humour, laugh at me and go further, as your current situation allows you to."

He went to say he "cannot describe" the everyday shock he felt over their breakup and that he was hurting and "lonely".

Katya said she received a call from a channel subscriber about what he was doing, reported The Sun, but by the time she arrived at his house it was too late and he already been rushed to hospital.

She denied earlier reports that the couple had divorced saying that they had seen each other only hours before the event unfolded.

Arslan's mother told Channel 5: "His father blames Katya for them having poisonous snakes in the home.

"But it is not true."

She went on to say she did not blame Katya for anything.
