Broken traffic lights causing problems for drivers on Great Western Road

Broken traffic lights are currently posing problems for road users in the west of the city.

The traffic lights are currently not working at the busy junction Great Western Road and Great Western Retail Park in the Drumchapel area.

And that has led drivers to take to Twitter this morning to warn their fellow vehicle users travelling in the area to approach it with caution.

One driver tweeted: "Lights out at junction of Great Western Rd and Great Western retail park. Free for all Friday morning. Approach with caution".

While another noted: "Traffic lights out on G Western Road at junction with G Western Retail Park".

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: "We got a call via our reporting system just before 9am. An engineer was called and should be on their way if they aren't there already.

"Hopefully we will get the fault resolved as soon as possible. Drivers should approach to caution".

UPDATE - The traffic lights are now operational again
