'Broken sexist culture in the Metropolitan Police urgently needs fixing'

I don't think Cressida Dick resigning will make the difference that's needed - if she resigns the problem just carries on with the next commissioner and what really needs to change is the ingrained cultural problem in the police force.

It is unbelievable that officers with sexual offence convictions are in the police. At the moment it feels like there is no owning up to the issue and a failure to answer vital questions in the full public glare by the Met Police, which feels like an incredibly bad public relations choice.

The more the police say things, the worse it gets - I have never heard anything so stupid in my life as suggesting women flag down a bus if they don't trust a police officer.

The job that urgently needs to be done now is fixing the culture in the police force - I do not hear Cressida Dick or the Government giving me these answers yet.

We need a much more honest and open assessment of what's gone wrong and she needs to come up with a very detailed action plan of what will and won't be tolerated in the police force.

Boris Johnson has said police forces don't take violence against women seriously enough - but if is going to look into the misogyny at the heart of organisations, he needs to start with his own Conservative Party.

How can Priti Patel come down hard on Cressida Dick about this when Rob Roberts - who sexually harassed a member of his staff - is allowed to continue as a Conservative MP?

Cressida Dick might say that she is bound by regulations when it comes to the vetting and suspensions of police officers, and is limited in what she can do - so we need an independent public inquiry into these issues so the regulations can be urgently updated and changed where needed.

That is why the Labour Home Affairs team have called on the Home Secretary to undertake an urgent investigation into these issues so regulations can be implemented.
