Broken Pony: New Glasgow west end bar opens today on Dumbarton Road

Glasgow's westenders are enjoying a brand new bar with the arrival of Broken Pony.

Open today in the former home of St Louis Cafe Bar at 734 Dumbarton Road, the Charles Rennie Mackintosh-inspired space has been beautifully designed and is the latest venture of Amy Williams and Sandy MacMillan, the team behind the much-loved Inn Deep on the Kelvin.

On the drinks list will be bespoke cocktails, wines, prosecco, on tap lagers and craft beers, while there's also an exciting food menu, with the likes of full Scottish breakfasts being served for brunch and pizzas being freshly baked in the evening.

The team behind Glasgow's newest bar say: "Broken Pony is the latest venture from Amy Williams and Sandy MacMillan, who collectively brought Inn Deep to Glasgow’s West End and have now become synonymous with paving the way for leading craft beers in Glasgow. And, after successfully managing the Kelvinbridge bar for nine years Sandy and Amy have now launched Broken Pony.

"Nestled in the heart of Thornwood, an area which has recently been billed as one of ‘Glasgow’s hippest areas’ the bar inhabits the former St. Louis Café Bar.

"The team shall be led by Zander Duncan who is no stranger to the role and has looked after bars such as Loch Shiel Hotel, Inn Deep and then the Star & Dove Bar in Bristol. He's very much looking forward to opening and getting to know all of the colourful, charismatic characters of Partick.

"Featuring pieces of art by local Glasgow artists and classic Mackintosh vibes, the pub is excited about showcasing various drinks including a bespoke cocktail menu featuring the best spirits tailored to each drink.

"The bar will also be stocked with a selection of wines and prosecco. On tap you'll find Williams Brothers and Staropramen beers in addition to Aspalls cider and a rotational craft beer line. Their reasonably priced cocktail menu is sure to be a hit with those local to Thornwood and those seeking out a cool, chilled out new haunt in a wildly creative and up and coming part of Glasgow.

"We shall also be serving delicious Italian Aroma Coffee and speciality teas.

"Our locally sourced bar menu shall really pack a punch with a brunch menu ranging from full Scottish hearty breakfasts to mouth watering decadent pancakes. We shall then transcend into our evening menu, featuring flavoursome small bites and freshly baked pizzas which shall be perfect for sharing.

"Amy Williams and Sandy MacMillan are keen to establish Broken Pony as an inviting venue with community spirit rooted deep at the heart of it.

"We look forward to welcoming you all soon!"

And on Friday Glasgow Live will be sharing an exclusive first-look video of Broken Pony, giving you a tour of this stunning new Partick bar.
