Broken hydrant causes water to shoot into the air outside Aldi supermarket

A damaged hydrant is causing water to plume from the ground near an Aldi supermarket.

Officials from Severn Trent Water say they are on the way to the scene at Cross Street, Long Eaton, to repair the broken hydrant this morning (November 14).

The picture sent to Nottinghamshire Live shows water spraying in the air at the entrance to the Aldi supermarket, where Cross Street meets Peel Street.

Severn Trent says the incident is causing no supply issues to customers and that repairing the hydrant is a "priority".

A spokesperson said: ‘We’re sorry for any disruption caused by the broken hydrant on Cross Street this morning.

"[It is] not causing any supply issues for customers.

"Our teams are heading to site, where they will work to repair the hydrant and make sure everything is back to normal as soon as possible.

"We’re sorry for any inconvenience our work may cause, but it will be a priority to make sure it’s fixed, and everything back to normal quickly.’
