Broken Heel Festival act brings 100% of Kylie Minogue act to the outback

Broken Heel Festival director Esther La Rovere says the event has scored a last-minute coup by landing a Kylie Minogue tribute show as its headline act.

The 100% Kylie act will feature alongside other acts celebrating drag culture at the event inspired by the movie The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

It comes after Australian cabaret star Hans injured himself while performing in Turkey and pulled out as a headline act.

"[Once] we found out, we started making phone calls from Friday ... then we knew they were available and secured their travels over the weekend," Ms Rovere said.

"That was our biggest sort of snag to sort out and luckily we were able to do that."

Ms Rovere said it was "wonderful" to see Broken Hill acknowledged across the entertainment industry for an event supporting LGBTQIA+ people.

"Kylie Minogue herself is obviously an icon in the LGBTQIA+ community ... so she's a perfect fit for our event," she said.

"She has always been on our radar due to it being such a fabulous production, and it aligns really well with our demographic and the overall Priscilla theme and feel.

Celebrating 20 years of Kylie's tribute

Tribute artist Lucy Holmes said it was a "dream come true" to perform at the Broken Heel Festival.

"I've known about the festival obviously everybody does especially in the performance world…we're so excited about coming," she said.

"We're the longest running [Kylie act] in the world, we're the most booked show, and we're the only Kylie show in the world that Kylie has endorsed herself," Ms Holmes said.

Ms Holmes is celebrating 20 years of being a tribute act, and will be bringing surprises to her performance, including a "special guest".

"We are bringing the whole show, we've got the most amazing dancers who have done for the show for such a long time, it's such a treat," she said.

"It's every single Kylie song that you love, she's got so many number one hits, it's ridiculous, but it's all the biggest ones."

She said it would be her first visit to Broken Hill and was excited to experience the warm community of the outback city.

"It's just a big celebration of music and love, and of course, the queen herself, Kylie," she said.
