Broken down train causes Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh rail disruption

A broken down train has led to disruption on rail services with trains due to be travelling between Glasgow Queen Street station and Edinburgh Waverley affected this morning (Saturday).

Several trains have already been cancelled as a result of the 'major disruption', with other services 'delayed or revised'.

As it stands, the disruption could be cleared by 9am, however there is likely knock-on effects which could lead to further delays.

ScotRail say: "Following a broken down train earlier today between Linlithgow and Polmont the line is now open. Disruption is expected to last until around 09:00 today.

"Train services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street via Cumbernauld and Falkirk Grahamston are returning to normal but some services may still be cancelled, delayed or revised.

"The broken down train is now on the move and we are working hard to get services back on schedule."
