Brock Lesnar retains WWE Championship belt with victory over Cain Velasquez

Brock Lesnar has retained his WWE Championship belt with a victory over his long-term rival Cain Velasquez.

Lesnar made short work of Velasquez, forcing him to submit to a Kimura lock.

The pair's long-term rivalry dates back to 2010, when Lesnar's reign as UFC heavyweight champion came to an end when Velasquez secured a victory at UFC 121 in California.

But, this time, Lesnar was victorious at the WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia which is being headlined by British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury.

Indeed, he made light work of his rival after backing him into the corner and aiming a series of kicks at his body.

Velasquez, somewhat impressively, worked his way out of the situation and got back to work on his striking.

And Velsasquez looks to close in on the finish before Lesnar took him by surprise, locking him into his trademark Kimura Lock and securing a much-needed victory.

Moments after victory, Lesnar launched an attack with a chair on his beaten rival before Rey Mysterio - who accompanied Velasquez to the ring - got involved.

Earlier this month, Lesnar was turned upside down as UFC legend Velasquez attacked the new WWE champion in a shocking debut on Friday Night Smackdown.

Just moments after ‘The Beast Incarnate’ dethroned Kofi Kingston within 10 seconds to become Smackdown’s new king, Velasquez stunned the crowd and stormed to the ring to beat down the man he defeated for the UFC heavyweight championship nine years ago.

The 37-year-old has moved into wrestling after enjoying a stint earlier this year in Mexico’s popular Lucha Underground series.
