From cake stalls to singing the 'God Save the Queen' national anthem, and everyone dancing to 'YMCA', the Denton Burn school had an 'unforgettable day' for the Queen 's 70th Birthday.
Broadwood School celebrated their very own Jubilee Day, with their own dressed-up Queen. Headteacher Wendy Mitcheson, said: “Students, teachers, parents, and local residents were all invited to our Jubilee Day at the school.
"There were stalls and the schoolyard was decorated in the ‘Jubilee’ theme of colours red, white and blue. Many well-known songs such as YMCA were played and had people singing and dancing along.

"We had our very own Queen, who dressed up and acted out just like the actual Queen. All children sang the national anthem, and also created their own song called ‘Together’ which was also communicated in sign language for hearing impaired children.
"Parents also took part in the traditional egg and spoon race. We had many families come and help set up and many local residents came together on this special occasion, as a school our aim is to build up the community spirit.”

A teacher at the school, Miss Jameson said: "The afternoon was fantastic. I would like to say a huge 'thank you to some of our parents who gave up their own time to make the afternoon such a memorable occasion.”
Alex 11 said: “We loved performing our songs to our parents, we had to be so brave in front of so many people”
Emily, 11 said: “We will always remember this special day as it is not every day you get to celebrate a monarch on the throne for 70 years”

Christopher, 6 said: “I liked it when we sang God Save the Queen and I saw my mam dancing.”
