Broadway musical telling true 9/11 story will transfer to West End

A hit Broadway musical about the true story of 7,000 air passengers stranded in the wake of the 9/11 attacks is coming to the West End.

Come From Away is set in Gander, a small town in Newfoundland, Canada, which took in travellers from around the world when 38 flights were diverted there because US airspace was closed.

After selling out in New York, the show will open at the Phoenix Theatre at the end of January. It is written by husband-and-wife David Hein and Irene Sankoff, who said they were “thrilled” to be bringing it to the UK.

Tickets will go on sale from July 2.

A film adaptation is also in the works.
