Broadmarsh Centre's glass canopy in Middle Pavement removed as works continue

The Broadmarsh Centre's glass canopy has been torn down as demolition works continue on the former shopping centre.

An excavator with a hydraulic breaker ripped down the glass canopy, which marked the entrance in Middle Pavement, between 7pm and 7am on Monday, September 30.

Scaffolding has also appeared in Collin Street as demolition work began on the exterior walls, an area which will boast a full-glass frontage once the £89 million project is completed.

On October 11, the road will also be closed from 10pm until the following Monday (October 14) while a tower crane is put up, ready for the further demolition of the shopping centre walls.

The crane will carry out the "phased demolition" of the existing front of the shopping centre which will then be fitted with steel, glazing and cladding to make way for the new cinema.
