The one-minute trailer for the show, which returns to ITV on 5 January, plays out to Old Faces, a track sung by emerging star Laura Doggett. Monkey’s catching more than a whiff of The Bridge theme song, here.

Familiar series one faces Tennant, Colman, Whittaker and Andrew Buchan will be rubbing shoulders with new and as-yet-unknown characters played by Marianne Jean Baptiste, Charlotte Rampling and James Darcy.

The tagline for the trail is “same town: new secrets”. So what have we learned so far? To quote Philip Henslowe: “I don’t know ... it’s a mystery.”
