Broadcast stalwart takes up new role with Derbyshire firm Cloudbass

A man who has worked on ground-breaking television shows and coverage of Royal weddings has joined a Derbyshire broadcast solutions firm.

Mike McGaw, who worked on shows including Channel 4's The Big Breakfast, project managed the likes of Educating Yorkshire and helped deliver coverage of two Royal Weddings, has joined Ripley-based Cloudbass.

He has taken up the role of senior project manager as the firm embarks on a period of investment.

He said: "I'm really excited to be joining Cloudbass at such a significant time. They are a company with a strong desire and ambition to grow.

"They are investing heavily in leading-edge technology and are passionate about developing new talent in the industry. I'm looking forward to playing a part in this."

"I’ve had a great welcome from everyone and after a couple of days, I already feel very much part of the team. I’m looking forward to getting to know them more and I’m really enthusiastic to be able to use my experience and ideas so we can drive the company forward together."

Mike began his career in the field at the turn of the millennium, working for Planet 24 as a vision engineer on The Big Breakfast.

In 2004, he relocated to Nottingham, where he still lives with his wife and two children, and joined Arqiva, establishing himself by guaranteeing large scale events for Sky Sports, Carling Cup Finals and regular shows like Question Time and The Antiques Roadshow.

By 2013, after a short freelance career, he joined NEP Visions and worked on a variety of projects, including comedy shows, documentaries, major sporting events and Royal weddings.

Steve Knee, managing director at Cloudbass, said: "I'm absolutely delighted that Mike has made the move to Cloudbass. He has incredibly valuable experience in the outside broadcast industry and has delivered or been part of many prestigious productions in both live and recorded environments.

"Mike is really knowledgeable and also has a very practical approach to delivery, which is clearly shown in his project managing and delivering of many large-scale live events in sports, news and light entertainment.

"His experience as a vision engineer provides a technical background which lends itself to managing some of the highly technical projects that we get involved in.

"I see Mike fitting into our team perfectly and being a real asset to our expansion plans.”
