Brixton stabbing: Murder probe launched after man, 39, knifed to death in south London

A murder probe has been launched after a 39-year-old man was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Brixton.

Police and paramedics scrambled to reports of a stabbing on Brixton Hill just after midday on Thursday.

The victim, 39, rushed to a south London hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

A Met spokesman said: "Police were called at 12.07pm on Thursday to reports of a stabbing at Brixton Hill, SW2.

"Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene and found a 39-year-old male suffering from a stab wound.

"He was taken by LAS to a south London hospital where he sadly died a short time later."

Police say his next of form have been informed and a post-mortem will be scheduled in due course.

A crime scene and road closures remain in place while police invesigate.

Two males have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The police spokesman added: "They have been taken to a south London police station where they remain at this time.

"At this early stage officers retain an open mind as to motive."
