A man has been stabbed death in broad daylight on a south London street.

The 39-year-old was knifed in Brixton Hill shortly after midday on Thursday, London's Metropolitan Police said.

Paramedics and air ambulance doctors were also called to the scene but he later died in hospital.

Two males, whose ages were not given by police, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are being held at a south London police station.

The pair were arrested before the man died.

Brixton Hill was closed at the junction with New Park Road while officers investigated the death.

The man’s family has been informed and a post-mortem examination “will be scheduled in due course”, police said.
