Britt Assombalonga considering multiple offers after shock Middlesbrough axing

Britt Assombalonga has admirers offering him a stay in the Championship and other interest to go to Scotland or Turkey.

Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock this week revealed he has already told Assombalonga he can leave the club.

The DR Congo international striker,28, is out of contract this summer after joining from Nottingham Forest for £15million in July 2017 in a club record deal.

He was due to become a free agent and Warnock has accelerated the process by deciding there was no point keeping him or Ashley Fletcher for the remaining three games of the season.

Now Assombalonga is considering his options amid rising interest in his services.

He hasn't already agreed a deal elsewhere yet as Warnock suggested.

But he has Scottish champions Rangers chasing him plus several Championship clubs and major interest in Turkey.

Warnock said: “We’ve told them that they won’t be involved again now.

“They won’t play and they won’t train with us.

“I just felt it was the right time.

“It’s difficult for players as well – it’s not their fault altogether.

“When you’re looking at next season and you know you’re not going to be here, both of them have probably got another club now, so I’m told.

“I didn’t think there was any point carrying on. We’ve agreed to let them both go – it’s only two more weeks.”

Assombalonga has scored 47 goals in 161 games for Boro after 30 Championship goals in 47 starts for Forest having joined from Peterborough in 2014.
