In what could be of the most British of crimes, UK holidaymakers have been revealed to steal over £3million worth of tea bags from hotels every year.
The study, conducted by Bolsover Cruise Club , revealed that we're nicking millions of pounds worth of tea bags annually.
In fact, tea and coffee was one of the top three items which Brits think they should be allowed to take from hotel rooms.
But according to one etiquette expert, while there are some items you can take from a hotel room , tea and coffee is very much on the 'leave it behind' list.
Oh, and before you have a Ross Geller moment and try to cram as many toiletries as you can into your bag, it's worth considering that Brits steal travel-sized toiletries from hotels which come to a total value of £65million each year.

If it's a half-used bottle then you could take them (the hotel will most likely be throwing it away), but those unused bottles are leaving hotels facing hefty costs.
Those are just travel-sized ones too; full sized toiletries taken by Brits came to a total value of £31million.
Although most people will admit to having taken some shampoos or conditioners from a hotel stay, these are not the most commonly taken item.
Topping the list in the research? Towels.

Yes, it seems that we Brits just can't resist those fluffy towels to be found in hotel bathrooms, so we're taking them back home with us.
Even though they're most likely not brand new and will have been used by hundreds of other hotel guests.
Other surprising items on the list included lightbulbs, plants, batteries from the television remote and even curtains!

Of course hotels are coming up with countermeasures for items going missing, such as flagging the items they will charge you for if missing from your room after your stay.
That means it could end up costing you more to take these home than if you simply went to the shop and picked up some new items for yourself.
