Brits 'should leave toilet seat up' to reduce spread of coronavirus, expert claims

It’s a habit that drives most women mad, but now men have been given a valid excuse to leave the toilet seat up.

James Milnes, managing director at Zoonos has advised that Brits should leave the toilet seat up to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

Mr Milnes claims that leaving the seat up reduces the need for multiple people to touch the seat.

Speaking to the Sun, he explained: “Leave the lid of the loo seat up to reduce the number of people needing to touch it to lift the seat up and down.

"To be courteous to other guests, clean the loo seat with an antibacterial wipe after use.”

Studies have shown that the virus can survive for up to three days on plastic - including on toilet seats.

Mr Milnes’ advice comes lockdown restrictions are set to be eased in England from this weekend.

A single-adult household can form a "bubble" with one other household and act as though they live together, permanently.

It means two households can finally break the two-metre rule to meet, laugh and love for the first time in almost three months.

Coronavirus in numbers: UK death toll at 41,279

And some separated couples can finally reunite for overnight stays and sex.

Boris Johnson explained: “He said: “From this weekend, we will allow single adult households - so adults living alone or single parents with children under 18 - to form a “support bubble” with one other household.

“All those in a support bubble will be able to act as if they live in the same household - meaning they can spend time together inside each others’ homes and do not need to stay 2 metres apart.”
