Mo Gilligan left The BRITs viewers stunned after introducing Lewis Capaldi as Sam Capaldi on stage.
The West Lothian singer took to the stage to perform his number one single Forget Me, ahead of the release of his second album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent. Lewis, 26, is up for a BRIT Award tonight for Song Of The Year against fellow Scots LF System, Sam Smith, and Harry Styles among others nominated.
Hosting the show, comedian Mo introduced the Someone You Loved singer as 'Sam Capaldi' leaving fans watching at home extremely confused. After the performance, Mo apologised for his error, joking the "drinks are strong" at the event.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the error, with many asking 'Who is Sam Capaldi?' One said: "Who the f**k is Sam capaldi?"
Another tweeted: "will we ever find out who sam capaldi is... #BRITs," while a third wrote: "Not me googling who Sam Capaldi is."
"It’s so funny how we all take to Twitter to make sure we haven’t lost our minds… Because I’m like who TF is Sam Capaldi?!! #BRITs," penned a fourth.
Some viewers were not happy about the accidental error, and vented their frustrations about Mo's mistake. One fan wrote: "I thought Sam Capaldi was some s**t joke but it was a genuine mistake #BRITs ".
"If I was @LewisCapaldi I’d be well p***ed… #SamCapaldi #BRITs," ranted another. A third joked: "Lewis capaldi and Sam Smith back stage waiting to come out after Mo's balls up".
