Brits hoping to jet off on a summer break could be quids in as some package deals are down by more than a third.
A week in Portugal has fallen 37% on its March price, Majorca hols are down 23% and the Costa del Sol 22%.
Holiday price comparison site TravelSupermarket also found city break prices slashed, with Madrid down 35%. Normally it would be hard to find a Med package in the school summer holidays for less than £300 per person.
Currently there are seven nights from £150 per person and swanky five star holidays at three star prices.
Majorca, the Algarve, Costa del Sol, Malta and Ibiza are offering some of the best prices with searches for holidays to Majorca shooting up 102% on news that Spain is opening up early for tourists.
There has been a spike in searches for UK cottages and car hire.
Camp sites and self-catering accommodation have seen high bookings for weeks and it is becoming more difficult to find availability.
Due to reluctance to fly and the higher demand for UK breaks, it can be cheaper to fly off than to do a staycation.
Emma Coulthurst, of TravelSupermarket, said: “Prices have fallen across the board as the travel market attempts to sell unsold hotel rooms and flights.”
Meanwhile banking industry body UK Finance warns of scams
These include fake caravan and motorhome listings, dodgy refund offers and fraudsters impersonating airlines and banks.
